K9 CERTIFICATIONS

Certifications for K9 Teams in narcotics, explosives, patrol, tracking, search and rescue, cadaver, cellphones, and bedbugs.

Narcotics

All K-9’s must find to certify:

1) Marijuana

2) Cocaine

3) Heroin

4) Methamphetamine

Other narcotics are optional to certify on upon request and availability.

Explosives

The Canine Teams will certify with the following odors:

C-4
TNT
Smokeless Powder
Black Powder
Sodium
Potassium
Detonation Cord
Anfo
Ken-Pac

Patrol

Test the K-9 teams’ skill at performing actions that mirror the realities of the street, as well as examining the officers’ and dogs’ competence as a team.

Test the dog’s most basic skills, and the handler must show he/ she can deploy and handle his/ her dog in a proficient manner.

Tracking

This test will determine the reliability and proficiency of the canine to follow a track and locate a person.

Surfaces may be but are not limited to the following areas or surfaces:

Grass
Pavement
Woods or Forest
Swamp
